Trendspotting: Research Indicates That Baby Boomers Are Increasingly Comfortable Online

Wake up to the potential of the internet

I spotted an interesting article on the Trendspotting blog of www.trendspotting.com that research indicates that baby boomers (people aged 46 to 64) are increasingly comfortable online.

In fact some 70% use the internet and 66% have a positive perception of the internet.  Surprisingly 46% maintain a social media profile on sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

This article supports my own view (and personal experience) – I am a ‘boomer’ (- I don’t really like this word to describe myself – it’s too US!- but I can’t think of an alternative – perhaps you can??).

I think my target market for www.WebMarketingMachines.co.uk are ‘boomer’ business owners in the UK who want to promote their local businesses online.  That’s why this research is important – it indicates that my generation is waking up rapidly to the potential of the internet.

I, too, am a Baby Boomer and I have been on the internet since it’s conception and even before Al Gore invented it. lol There is a learning curve for us baby boomers but more and more are getting plugged in.

There is also a great opportunity for us to train our fellow boomers. Thanks for the great post!
