Grow Your Business With Joint Ventures

Let me illustrate the power of Joint Ventures by telling you a story.

The Parable of the 10ft Chopsticks

A man wanted to check out the after-life.  He’d heard about heaven and hell and wanted to see what they were like.  He wanted to know that if he lived a good life here on earth and Heaven and Hell turned out to be a con, he would feel cheated.

In particular, he wanted to be reassured that, by refusing good food, he would be duly rewarded for avoiding the sin of gluttony.  If it didn’t matter, then he may as well enjoy himself by eating all he could.

These people are starving – how can that be?

He duly booked a tour of Heaven and Hell

His first guide took him through the Gates of Hell.  There he found large tables, as far as the eye could see, and heaped with mountains of lovely food.  As he walked on surrounded on all sides by a great feast of food, he thought to himself  ‘this is  more like Heaven than Hell’.

‘Yes, Hell is definitley the place for me’ he told his guide.  ‘All I can eat for eternity, that’s what I’ve dreamt of.’

His guide said nothing.

They walked on until they entered a large hall.  Again the tables in the great hall were heaped with food for as far as the eye could see but the people sitting at the tables were all thin and emaciated.  They groaned loadly because they had been hungry since eternity.

The man said to his guide ‘These people are starving – how can that be?’

‘Look more closely’ said the Guide ‘and you’ll see the reasons for yourself.’

As they got nearer the the man noticed for the first time that they seemed to be holding very long chopsticks.

Now the man realised that, whilst they could pick up their food, it was impossible to move it round to their mouths and so they starved.

He decided that Hell was not all it promised to be and decided to go and take a look at what Heaven had to offer.

On entering the pearly gates with his guide, he was surprised to see, once again, that there were tables piled with food as far as the eye could see.  They walked on until they again came to a great hall and entered the door. Once again they encountered large tables piled high with wonderful food and that the people were holding long chop sticks.

However, this time all the people sitting around the tables were well fed with happy smiles on their faces.Joint Ventures Are Mutually Profitable

‘How can this be?’ he said to his guide.  ‘How can they be well fed whilst the people in Hell are starving?’

His guide smiled and said ‘There is one big difference … it’s simply the state of mind of these people in Heaven compared to those we saw in Hell.’

Look more closely…

The man took a closer look and suddenly realised that each person in Heaven would use their ten foot chopsticks to pick up food and feed the person opposite to them.  In return, the person opposite would do the same and they both got fed.

‘In Hell’ the guide explained ‘the people are afraid that someone will pinch their food and selfishly try to feed only themselves and that’s why they go hungry.’

That’s Why Joint Ventures Work…

If both parties work together and use their respective resources for mutual gain, both have a much better chance of success.
