Give Away Everything You Know, And More Will Come Back To You
The idea behind this is that if you give away everything you have, you are left with nothing. This forces you to look, to be aware and to replenish yourself.
I got to thinking about this and how it could apply to my life. I spent 25 years of my life studying banking and then left Banking with nothing, other than my relationships with people. (Incidentally, your relationships with other people are often more valuable then any tangible asset.)
By leaving the Bank, it forced me to re-evaluate my life and learn new skills with new ideas. In particular, I have learned and got ideas to use a computer far better than I ever would have done in Banking. I’ve also had to study marketing, bookkeeping and business consulting. I’m a very different person than I was just 8 years ago.
The biggest difference is that, by working outside ‘the system’, I have really started to think for myself and now challenge many of the accepted conventions of our society. Many of these rules have specifically evolved to put a body of people in a position of power over other people for their own gain.
Most of the population are completely unaware or don’t have any ideas of the subtle (and some not so subtle) ways in which their lives and their thinking are controlled.
I want to explore this topic in future articles by looking at the following institutions and conventions:
- the Government and the Law
- Religion and the clergy
- the Business Owner or ‘Boss’
- The Media
These people all want to control you and take your money, and at the same time they want your respect, talents, time and knowledge. We’ll explore how they do that and what it means for the Renegade.
